OpenSense vs Testo / Sensorpush / Eupry

An honest comparison written by the OpenSense team

There are three reference points buyers compare us to. We respect each of them; the goal of this page is to tell you when to pick them over us, and when to pick us.

This page is opinionated. Every vendor's marketing claims something; the comparison below is from our own dogfooding of their kits and from talking to small EU food businesses about why they switched.

Where Testo wins

Testo is the European gold standard for regulated cold chain, full stop. Buy Testo if:

  • You are a pharmaceutical distributor with GxP obligations and a qualified auditor will reject anything without ISO 17025 calibrated probes shipped with paperwork.
  • You need a single throat to choke. Testo will sell you sensor + cloud + calibration + audit-time consulting as a package.
  • You are mid-to-large (50+ sensors per site) and the budget is annual six figures.
  • You have a procurement department that prefers a known brand to a cheaper unknown.

We are not Testo. We do not run an ISO 17025 calibration lab. We do not have a sales team that comes to your site. We do not have a Testo-style qualification dossier.

Where SensorPush wins

SensorPush is the right answer for the single hobbyist or one-fridge small operator who does not care about a SaaS subscription and is fine to live inside SensorPush's app.

Buy SensorPush if:

  • You have one or two sensors, total.
  • You like the app's chart and do not need PDF reports.
  • You do not need multi-user access, audit-trail evidence, or LoRaWAN.
  • You speak English natively and have no localization need.

SensorPush is excellent at the "one cigar humidor / one wine fridge" class of problem. The cloud is free at that scale. We are not trying to compete in that segment.

Where Eupry wins

Eupry is the EU pharma / lab product. If you are a hospital pharmacy, a small biotech wet-lab, or a vaccine clinic, Eupry has specifically built for your auditor.

Buy Eupry if:

  • You are GxP / GLP / GDP regulated.
  • You want ISO 17025 calibration certificates per probe.
  • You are happy with a Danish vendor and Danish data residency.
  • You can afford the higher capex.

We are not GxP. We are HACCP-and-equivalent for food and Legionella.

Where OpenSense wins

We are the hardware-agnostic, EU-residency, self-serve, regulator- appropriate option for the small operator (1–10 sensors per site, food / hot-water / IT-closet / climate / energy). Specifically:

  • Capex. A Shelly H&T is €30. Three of them and a free trial is under €100 to validate the entire workflow. Testo or Eupry start at 10× that. You do not have to commit before you know it works for you.
  • No vendor lock-in. You can leave us, take your CSVs, and route the same Shelly to a different SaaS or to your own database. Our audit trail is verifiable externally (see audit trail).
  • Five verticals from one backend. Testo has a cold-chain product and a separate building-monitoring product. Eupry is pharma-shaped. We cover food + Legionella + server-room + climate + energy out of the box.
  • EU-first, self-serve. Slovak, Czech, German operators do not need a US-headquartered vendor's quirks (US time zones, English-only support, USD pricing, USA Cloud Act exposure).

Where we are not as good

We are honest about it:

  • No first-party calibration. Bring your own calibrated probe if you need traceability. We do not ship calibration certificates.
  • No 24/7 phone support. Email + Telegram, business hours (Europe/Bratislava). Enterprise tier will add a phone line.
  • No SOC 2 / ISO 27001. Coming, but not today.
  • One-person operation. We are honest about that. If your purchasing policy says "vendor must have 50+ employees", we are not yet your vendor.

If you find yourself ticking many of those boxes, buy Testo or Eupry. We are happy to be a tier-2 redundancy logger next to them; the API will ingest from any Shelly / Aqara / ESP32 alongside the regulated probe.

Migrating to us from another tool

We have written migration paths for the most-common cases:

  • From SensorPush: export CSV, we provide an importer that maps to channels.
  • From Testo Saveris: export from the Saveris cloud, run the same importer.
  • From Eupry: we have not migrated a customer from Eupry yet; please contact us if you are the first.
  • From paper logbook: see the HACCP vertical guide.
